RACER INFORMATION
Thank you for supporting “Crushing the Twelve Mountain Bike Race”. We are excited to have cycling return to the Grape & Wine Festival and Niagara. Please read the below as it will provide you with race details.
Packet Pickup will be Saturday, September 24th from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Pickup will also be available race day at 8:00 am – 9:30 am. Pickup will be at the start location, which is 45 Renown Road, St. Catharines. This is located ‘under’ Burgoyne Bridge. See map attached.
Parking for race day will be downtown St. Catharines. We highly recommend the city parking lot – Ontario Street Garage located at 8 Ontario Street. Parking on Sunday is Free! From the parking garage, ride your bicycle to the start line. See map attached.
The start line will be located at 45 Renown Road (same as pickup). This is a 5-minute ride from the parking lot. The roads will not be closed, please watch for traffic. A riders meeting will be held at 9:45 am. Please ensure your race plate has the number clearly visible. You will notice colours on the plates, these refer to the category you are registered in. On the course, you will follow these coloured arrows.
· Expert (including Fat Bikes and Clydesdale) will start at 10:00 am - black
· Sport will start at 10:10 am - Green
· Novice will start at 10:20 am - Red
A feed zone will be located at Decew House Heritage Park area (The Ruins). This zone is sponsored by the Sunflower Squad. First Aid and a bike repair station will also be available at this location.
The finish line will be located on Salina Street. Yes, you will climb the “hill” 😊. Gabby the Grape will be there to greet and encourage you! We will have marshals in this area but remind you to also watch for cars. If you are ‘hanging out’ at the finish line, we ask that you please be considerate of neighbouring properties.
Once finished, please head over to Montebello Park (Ontario Street at Lake Street) for our ‘post-race party’. Again, the roads will be open so watch for traffic. Please note, there is NO bike storage at the park, we strongly suggest locking them in your vehicle or on your bike rack. Bikes are not allowed into the park area. Post race party will be hosted in "The Grove" located towards the corner of Ontario & Lake Streets within the park area.
At the park, racers will have access to a beverage and 2 slices of pizza. You will find a glass and a coupons in your swag bag. You MUST bring these with you to the post-race party. Additional touchless tokens for additional food and beverages are available for purchase in the park. In the park you will also find a variety of food vendors.
The awards ceremonies will begin at approximately 1:30 pm (depending on the last rider). The awards will be followed by prize draws. You must be in attendance to win! The grand prize is a NordicTrackS15i Studio Cycle donated by Niagara Fitness!! Thank you to our many sponsors for the amazing prizes and support!
Should you have more questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our group. Have a fabulous day, enjoy the ride!
